AIDER works to ensure refugee voices are represented in local, national, regional, and global policy spaces. Through research, advocacy campaigns, community engagement, and partnerships with policymakers, AIDER has contributed to important discussions on refugee rights, self-reliance, and inclusion in Uganda. One of the organization’s key achievements includes conducting refugee-led research on Article 29 of Uganda’s Refugee Act 2006 in partnership with Refugees International, highlighting barriers refugees face in accessing employment opportunities. The findings helped influence ongoing discussions around refugee livelihoods and policy responses following humanitarian funding cuts. AIDER has also participated in high-level engagements with Parliament, humanitarian actors, donors, and refugee leaders to advance meaningful refugee participation and representation.
